Sundaram Textiles began its journey in 1954 as a textile manufacturing company in Kullurchandai, near Virudhunagar, founded by the late Mr. P. Sundaram Chettiar, the late Mr. P. Ramasamy Chettiar, and the late Mr. P. Paramasivam Chettiar. Initially, the company specialized in the production of “Art Silk” sarees.
As the business grew, Sundaram Textiles expanded its operations and opened a branch in 1965 at Devangar Choultry, South Masi Street, Madurai, focusing on textile trading. Over time, the company began producing the popular “Pudu Pattu” sarees, made from viscose rayon. Eventually, Sundaram Textiles ventured into the creation of the iconic Madurai Sungadi sarees, earning a reputation for its high-quality craftsmanship and design. The brand “Sundaram Sarees” became well-known among cotton saree enthusiasts.
To this day, we continue to focus on developing new and innovative designs in Sungadi sarees and Salwar materials, always prioritizing customer satisfaction.
After several family divisions, in 2004, we established a new branch under the name “New Sundaram Textiles” at Madurai’s Goripalayam, near “Thevar Statue.” In 2016, we expanded further by opening a second branch at Devangar Choultry, and named it “Sundaram Cotton Saree.”
